PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced compensation to traditional farmers cultivating Cucurbits and other vegetables via the Chief Minister Relief Fund for losses occurred due to heavy rains in last 15 days.
“I assure that compensation to these traditional farmers via CM relief funds. These farmers cannot claim compensation sa they do not possess krishi card and also land used for cultivation is not owned by them,” said Sawant.
Minister Ravi Naik said that farmers cultivate small areas ranging form 500 to 4000 Sq. mts. and undertake expenses on Seed, fertilizer trellis and labour. Incessant rains in July month has caused considerable damage to the plants and seedling.
“Plant have decayed and considerable loss has been caused. The Directorate of Agriculture implements State Sector Scheme Shetkari Adhar Nidhi to provide compensation to the farmers due to Floods, Inundation etc,” said Agriculture Min Ravi Naik.
He further said that crop loss paid to farmers for field crops such as Paddy, Vegetables, Pulses, Flowers, Nachani etc. is Rs.40,000/- per ha.
Minister during reply to calling attention on 19th July 2024 the Government has already assured that all the farmers who are not possessing Krishi Card but have suffered Crop loss during this season will be considered under Crop Compensation subject to submission of Undertaking and Application in prescribed format and other relevant document.
“I have already issued direction vide note dated 22/07/2024 to Director of Agriculture to carry out evaluation of Crop losses and submit proposal for crop compensation within 15 days for release of assistance,” he added.
