Panaji: In a big boost to local producers, the Goa State Bio-Diversity has approved “The Goan” project, under which the government will extend marketing support to the local food produce.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, after chairing the Goa Bio-diversity Board meeting said that under the Board today granted approval for the “The Goan” project for local produce.
Sawant said that for the first time Goan processing unit will be started and local produce like mango and jackfruit will be taken up.
“We will brand and market the forest produce, for which various private agencies would be taken on board,” he said.
He said that the Food Processing and Marketing, project management unit have been approved by bio-diversity for which several companies have supported under CSR.
“So whatever is locally produced in Goa will get a big market to sell,” he said.
