PANAJI: Goa’s Health Department has achieved a significant milestone through its AI-enabled Lung Health Screening Program, which has already identified eight early-stage lung cancer cases—enabling timely medical intervention and potentially life-saving treatment.
The initiative, launched in partnership with health-tech firm Qure.ai and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, uses advanced artificial intelligence technology to enhance early diagnosis and expand healthcare accessibility across the state.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the program reflects Goa’s commitment to pioneering innovative health solutions that impact lives meaningfully.
“By integrating cutting-edge AI into our public health system, we ensure equitable access and early diagnosis—where every life matters,” Rane stated.
The screening services are now available at all levels—from Primary Health Centres to District Hospitals and the Goa Medical College. To date, over 30,000 citizens have been screened under the program, including in underserved and rural areas.
Rane added that partnerships like these are instrumental in bringing global healthcare standards to Goa, combining innovation with compassion to build a healthier and stronger state.
