Panaji: This February, the heart of Kolkata will pulsate with the energetic rhythms and flavors of Goa as the Goan Association of Bengal and Dalhousie Institute collaborate to bring the ‘Viva Carnival’ to Ballygunge. This pre-Lent celebration, a staple in Goan culture, promises an unforgettable experience of music, dance, and delectable cuisine.
For the first time, Kolkata will witness its own version of the Goa Carnival, complete with a lively parade led by King Momo and Queen Mimi.
The event will feature electrifying performances by popular Goan artists Tammy and Roy, who are making their Kolkata debut. The carnival will offer a culinary journey through authentic Goan dishes, including sausages, Sorpotel, Pork Vindaloo, Chicken Cafreal, and the iconic seven-layered dessert, Bebinca.
These delicacies will be prepared using ingredients flown in directly from Goa to ensure an authentic taste.
The Goan community is eager to share their rich culture and cuisine with the people of Kolkata. Tickets for the event will be available at the venue, and attendees are encouraged to dress up and bring their party spirit to fully immerse themselves in the Goan festivities.
