VASCO: A wheel of a wagon attached to a goods train derailed near the Tanya hotel, barely a few meters away from the Vasco Railway station on Wednesday evening
Sources said that the incident occurred at around 5 pm and train services from the Vasco Railway station had been disrupted due to the incident.
“Some railway works are being carried out at the Vasco Railway station and because of this, a goods train with around 15 wagons was bringing blast stones. When the goods train reached the track, near the Tanya Hotel in Vasco, the wheel of one wagon skidded off the rail causing the derailment.
There were no injuries reported but the incident created an obstacle on the track.
The railway’s staff have already started the work to get the wagon wheel back on the track and clear the site at around 7 pm and it may take up to two hours for the works to be completed. In the meanwhile, an interstate Train Patna Express that was scheduled to leave from Vasco railway station at 7 pm will be delayed by two hours till the works are not completed.
However, the Yeshwantpur train that was supposed to leave the station at 11 pm is expected to leave on its original time in case the works are completed on time, said the source.
