VALPOI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday met young Gaurav Sawardekar and his family following the tragic medical complications during treatment that resulted in the loss of the child’s leg.
Expressing solidarity with the family, the Health Minister said the Government of Goa would extend full support to Gaurav in the years ahead.
“As Health Minister, and on behalf of the Government of Goa, I express my heartfelt apology to the family for the pain and trauma they have endured,” Rane said.
He further stated that no words could heal the suffering faced by the child and his family, but assured them that the government would stand firmly by them.
“I have personally assured the family that his education will be fully supported for life, and that we will ensure he receives the best prosthetic support and treatment from a centre of excellence so he can live with dignity, confidence, and hope,” the minister said.
Calling the incident deeply personal, Rane added that accountability, compassion and support must reach those who need it the most.
The minister also prayed for Gaurav’s strength, courage and brighter days ahead as the family copes with the tragedy.
