PANAJI: Semi-Final results: In the first semi-final match held at the Goa University ground, the Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, achieved victory over Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, concluding with a score of 2-1. The match was enthralling, as both teams demonstrated a strong resolve to advance to the finals. The initial half showcased remarkable offensive and defensive maneuvers from both sides, accompanied by several missed chances. The turning point for G.C. Sanquelim came in the 45th minute when a pass from Rosary College defender Edwin Kalsolkar intended for the goalkeeper was mishandled, resulting in an own goal.
As the second half began, Rosary College responded vigorously, equalizing in the 56th minute through a goal by Garrison Fernandes, who had just been substituted into the game. The intensity of the match escalated, with Rosary College launching multiple attacks. However, in the 63rd minute, Government College Sanquelim reclaimed the lead with a direct free kick from the captain Mohammed Saif that successfully evaded both the defensive wall and the goalkeeper, ultimately sealing their victory. Despite the persistent efforts from both teams, Government College Sanquelim triumphed with a final score of 2-1.
In the second Semi-Final match held at the Goa University ground, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce. & Economics. Cujira, triumphed over the C.E.S’s College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim by a score of 1-0.
The match was characterized by high intensity, with both teams demonstrating considerable effort in their quest to reach the finals. The first half concluded without any goals, despite the C.E.S’s College appearing to dominate in the initial minutes.
As the second half commenced, both teams intensified their efforts, showcasing their skills on the field. Ultimately, it was S. S. Dempo College who secured the lead with a remarkable shot into the net by Swavel Furtado in the 63rd minute. The match concluded with a score of 1-0, as the C.E.S’s College was unable to find the back of the net, while S. S. Dempo College effectively combined solid defense with an aggressive offensive strategy.
