PANAJI: Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai expressed concern about the State’s continued beef supply issues and questioned whether the actions of the BJP government amounted to good governance.
Sardesai claimed that the State administration was purposefully erecting obstacles to disrupt the beef supply in advance of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which are mostly observed by Goa’s minority population.
He voiced his displeasure with the ongoing obstacles placed on traders and noted that the minority population is the primary consumer of beef during the holiday season.
“Why does the supply of beef constantly face obstacles during the holiday season? Only members of the minority population who celebrate Christmas and New Year’s are eating meat. However, we see that numerous obstacles have been put in place to disrupt the supply, and dealers are being singled out,” he stated.
Many Goans who live overseas come back to the State to enjoy the holidays with their relatives, the Fatorda MLA added.
The display of St. Francis Xavier’s relics has drawn Goans. He went on to say, “It is the same Chief Minister who instructed someone to speak against Goencho Saib in order to deflect the situation and was granted protection.”
