PANAJI: Congress Vice President Sunil Kawthankar today said that Bhutani Project in Goa is yet another glaring example of how the government is favoring individuals from outside Goa at the expense of the local Goan community.
“Bhutani Project in Goa is yet another glaring example of how the government is favoring individuals from outside Goa at the expense of the local Goan community,” said Kawthankar
He further said that the land in question, which has been granted development permission, is owned by non-Goan individuals. This raises serious concerns about the government’s increasing bias towards external investors while disregarding the interests of Goans.
Kawthankar said that the Sanad for the property for the Bhutani Infra project was granted on 8 November 2023. This official document certifies the legitimacy of the land’s ownership and is a prerequisite for any further developmental activities.
“The development permission for the project was granted by the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority on 2 February 2024. This approval is critical for the commencement of construction and indicates that the project has passed regulatory checks,” said Kawathankar
Congress leader also said that initially, the plot designated for the Bhutani Infra project was identified as a private forest in Sancole village . Furthermore, the original land use plan did not classify this area as a commercial zone.
“It has come to light that Bhutani Infra, the project proponent, failed to disclose the critical information about the steep slopes on the land in their application. By withholding this important fact, the company misled authorities and received approval based on incomplete and deceptive information. This concealment is not only unethical but dangerous for the future of our state,” he said
He further also appealled to all Goans to come together and unite for the good cause of saving our land, our environment, and the dignity of our future generations.
