ASSAGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the demolished part of the house at Assagao will be reconstructed by the Goa government and all expenses incurred will be recovered from those responsible for the demolition.
Sawant visited the house of the Agarwadekar family late evening today and listened to their grievances.
“The demolished part of the house at Assagao will be reconstructed by the Goa government and all expenses incurred will be recovered from those responsible for the demolition. Within the next 2 to 3 days the construction work will be commenced through PWD. CS to inquire into the matter; no one including police officials will be spared,” said Sawant.
He further said that the Chief Secretary(CS) has been directed to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter and submit a report by tomorrow.
“No one will be spared. Action will be initiated against everyone including police officials, said Sawant. He said the officials will be placed under suspension if the CS report points to their involvement,” he added.
Sawant said that all 15 involved in the demolition and abduction will be arrested and Pooja Sharma, the woman who claims ownership of the land and at whose behest the demolition was carried out will be brought to Goa from Mumbai and booked in the matter.
“After the report is turned in, all parties involved will face consequences. Strict measures will be taken against the police if they have any involvement in this. Action will also be taken against any implicated officers, Sawant promised.
The Chief Minister issued a warning about probable suspensions and made it clear that any interference with the State’s law and order would not be tolerated by the government.
Such conduct won’t be accepted going forward. The way the house was handled was completely inappropriate,” he declared.
