PANAJI: Claiming that there is involvement of high-profile politicians in the cash-for-job scam, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today demanded judicial probe by retired High Court judge.
GPCC President Amit Patkar also said that Congress will take it to the streets if state govt fails to appoint judical commission to probe cash for jobs scams by Monday.
“Congress will take it to the streets if state govt fails to appoint judical commission to probe cash for jobs scams by Monday; there is involvement of high-profile politicians in this scam,” said Patkar
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should clarify his stance on hiring through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), according to Patkar. “Youth are unsure if they will be hired through the SSC or if they must approach “agents” for a job.
“Sawant should clarify whether the government will hire youth through SSC.”
“We demand that all vacancies of the government should be filled only through the SSC” he stated.
Patkar insisted that the government publish a White Paper on hiring and openings, citing data showing that numerous positions have been prolonged or permitted to expire.
He drew attention to the fact that the government has given the current Chief Engineers of WRD and PWD three extensions rather than hiring competent applicants for the positions.
He argued, “If there are no qualified individuals available, it reflects failed policies of the government on the education front.”
Patkar also demanded that CM Sawant grant legal protection to victims of cash for jobs scams while stating that government should come out with a provision.
The party has also demanded that a High-Level Committee under a Retired Judge be constituted to investigate the irregularities or corruption in the recruitment process. The party alleged the possible involvement of BJP functionaries into the entire job scam episode.
