MAPUSA: The Mapusa Police detained a 44-year-old in possession of illegal drugs close to the Duler Football Ground in Mapusa as part of a major crackdown on drug trafficking.
The offender, a Guirim resident named Mahesh Suresh Tupkar, was apprehended in possession of 200 grams of charas, which are worth about Rs 2,00,000.
After the police received a tip, the arrest was made on February 27. Based on earlier intelligence, a team from the Mapusa Police Station under the command of PSI Aditya Gad carried out a quick operation that resulted in Tupkar’s capture.
A formal panchanama was used to seize the drug along with other pertinent items.
The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act’s Section 20(b)(ii)(B) was invoked to file an offense at the Mapusa Police Station after the seizure.
