TALEIGAO: Panaji Police arrested a 29-year-old Nepalese national during a narcotics raid conducted near the Taleigao football ground on Monday evening.
According to police, the offence was registered on 19 May 2026 at 10:44 PM based on a state complaint filed by PSI Nitin Naik of Panaji Police Station.
Acting on prior information, a police team led by PSI Nitin Naik, along with two panch witnesses, conducted a raid between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM near the Magsons shop located opposite the backside gate of the Taleigao football ground in Panaji.
During the operation, the police apprehended the accused identified as Ramesh Jilli Bahadur (29), currently residing at Santa Cruz and originally from Dhanj Tushipur, West Nepal.
Police said the accused was found in possession of 9 grams of suspected heroin valued at approximately ₹90,000. Cash amounting to ₹15,000 in different denominations and one Nokia mobile phone were also seized under panchanama.
The accused was formally arrested at 10:44 PM on 19 May 2026.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Nitin Naik of Panaji Police Station.
