PANAJI: In a major lapse, 67 deaths due to COVID-19 which occurred in the state in private hospitals in last 9 months have come to light today.
With this 67 deaths which took place from August 2020 to May 2021, the death toll due to Covid has jumped to 2,840.
The hospitals are Manipal Hospitals, Healthway Hospitals, Trinity Hospital, Apollo Victor,
Mother Care Hospital, Aster Hospital.
It is learnt that the deaths which took place in private hospitals due to Covid were not reported by the hospitals to the govt authorities.
Sources in the government said that 22 deaths were unreported from Mother Care hospital, Margao.
The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Monday announced that they will take action against private hospitals for their delay in releasing data of the deceased persons.
Goa today reported 418 new Covid cases, 1162 recoveries and 13 deaths.
Of the 13 deaths 10 were recorded at GMC and 3 at SGDH. A 68-year-old-man from Majorda, 38-year-old man from Vasco, 85-year-old man, 54-year-old-l man from Codan, 45-yearold woman from Cudnem,67-year-old woman from Ganjem.
Further a 60-year-old man from Bicholim, 71-year-old man from Margao, 62-year old-man from Verem,42-year-old man from Sangolda,60-year-old woman from Mormugao,47-year-old man from Vasco and 35-year-old woman from Sindhudurg succumbed to Covid in last 24 hours.
