CANACONA: Stating there is an urgent need to make the new generation aware-of and evinced their keen interest in the traditions of Drama, Senior theatre and Kirtan artist Nishkant Tengse said organizing theatre festivals is the need-of-the-hour to preserve the tradition of theatre Art amongst the masses.
Shri Tengse was speaking at the Konkani Natya Mahostava organised by Konkani Kala Kendra, Canacona near Shraddhanand Vidyalaya, at Poinguinim
On this occasion, Tengse presented the history of various plays to the audience who showed great interest in Drama festivals.
Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Sarpanch of Poinguinim Panchayat Savita Tawadkar, Vice President of Konkani Academy Vansat Bhagwant Sawant, Secretary Meghna Shetgaonkar, Convener Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar, President of Canacona Konkani Kala Kendra Suraj Komarpant, Poinguinim Dy.Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Panchayat members were the chief guests at the inauguration of this drama. Satish Painginkar, Pravir Bhandari were also present on the dais.
The dignitaries inaugurated the theatre festival by lighting the traditional lamp.
Speaking on this occasion, speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said that the young present generation should take the initiative to continue this tradition of drama by taking inspiration from this theatre festival whereby the tradition of amateur theatre art is still going on in some places. At this time Poinguinim Sarpanch Mrs. Tawadkar, and Mr. Bambolkar also spoke. Sudesh Naik, Kamalakar Mhalashi, Kavindra Phaldesai, are judges of the drama were also presented with mementos as dignitaries.
Suraj Komarpant welcomed, while Vasant Bhagwant Sawant gave the introduction. The program was moderated by Shirish Pai. After that a play Kutre was presented and applauded by the enthusiastic audience.
Ithihas, ‘Jago Mohan Pyare’, ‘Leeran Jagche Kay Marche’, 25th ‘Selfie’ will be were presented every day at 7.30 pm.
