PANAJI: The Holi – festival of Colours was celebrated with great religious fervour and on a grand scale in the Port Town on Monday.
The members of the Murgao Nagrik Shigmotsav Samiti (MNSS) observed the traditional rituals of offering prayers to Lord Damodar in Vasco before commencement of Holi celebration in the port Town in the presence of Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar.
There where prayers were offered at the Damodar Temple and the Holi celebration began on a grand scale amidst chants of “Shree Damodar Maharaj Ki Jai” even as hundreds thronged to the temple to begin the Holi celebration after offering prayers with several people applying Colours to each other.
A truck with huge music system and live band belting out various hits moved across the city with a procession of several revellers participating in the Holi celebration with great religious fervour.
Drenched In a riot of colours, several Holi revelers were seen moving around on bikes and open jeeps in the city and several families spend the day by the beach side at Hollant, Bogmalo and Baina which witnessed a large rush of people celebrating the Festival of colours.
