CANACONA: A huge branch of an old Tree came crashing down on NH-66 road, damaging one Car and a Scooter on Tuesday night at Chaudi.
While suddenly, there was a spurt of heavy winds amidst slight rain drizzle, and a huge part of an old Mango Tree came crashing down at about 8.30 pm on Tuesday night on NH-66 opposite Canacona Post Office.
One Car and a Scooter parked on the roadside got damaged while Fire Services personnel rushed a few minutes later and cut to remove the huge tree branch later in the night.
According to Fire Services, the damaged Car and a Scooter suffered losses of over Rs.40,000/-.
It may be recalled authorities, including Taluka Disaster Management, had cleared a number of roadside trees and branches posing safety threats to motorists and pedestrians, particularly along the NH-66 road.
Sources pointed out there are several old and weak trees still dotting the NH-66 highway posing great risks to humans and need to be attended to in Canacona.
