COLVALE: Colvale Police have registered an offence in connection with illegal sand extraction detected at Camurlim village in Bardez taluka.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Shri Omkar R. Naik Gaonkar, Geologist with the Directorate of Mines & Geology, Panaji. The offence was registered on February 25, 2026, at 4:39 pm.
As per the complaint, during a site inspection conducted prior to 11:15 am on February 25, 2026, at property bearing Survey Nos. 130/0 and 131/0 of Village Camurlim, Bardez, the complainant along with Colvale Police Station staff found illegally extracted sand stacked on the said property.
The sand, estimated at approximately 40 cubic metres and valued at around Rs. 52,000, was allegedly extracted and stored by unknown persons without obtaining necessary permission from the concerned authorities, thereby constituting theft of a minor mineral.
Police have registered the offence against unknown accused persons, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vishnu Jadhav.
