Leh: Amid the escalating tensions with China and also to show the military readiness, India has deployed air defence systems in the eastern Ladakh region, people close to this development said.
The air defence systems in the Indian Military include Akash, Israeli made SpyDer and the Russian made Pechora. ADS is system, weapon, or technology involved in the detection, tracking, interception, and destruction of attacking missiles, helicopters, fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles.
As per sources, both India and China have deployed heavy reinforcements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which includes tanks, fighter jets, artillery and missiles. Indian Forces have been put up on high alert and have been asked to maintain a strict vigil on the Chinese activities around the border, airspace and important sea lanes.
Also India had changed the rules of engagement along the LAC after the dangerous clash with China. Also the rules of engagement had been change by the commanders and have now been given the powers allowing them the use of firearms under extraordinary circumstances.
It may be recalled that Indian Army lost 20 brave men, including a Colonel, during the hand-to-hand combat with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley on the intervening night of June 15 and 16. The clash took place on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control.
