Nothing much could ahve been done with the toss as India had lost 20 per cent of the match at the toss as due was a real factor bowling second and not much could be done.
But not playing Ashwin in place of Mohd Siraj was a huge mistake. I suppose the decision was taken at last minute. Ashwin is a seasoned campaigner his experience could have made a huge difference to the side and he has been nemesis for many Australian batters.
Another shocking decision was bringing Ravindra Jadeja ahead of Suryakumar Yadav as that itself shattered the confidence of the 360 degree player, who is known for destructive batting.
The final bad decision was bowling Siraj as fifth bowler. Siraj is known for swing and does not seem be that effective in the middle overs as majority of his wickets ahve always been with the new ball.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets, “Dear Team India, Your talent and determination through the World Cup was noteworthy. You’ve played with great spirit and brought immense pride to the nation. We stand with you today and always.”
This is the perfect way of standing by your team which entertained us for 45-days of tough cricket competition.
Just one bad day and the dream was shattered.
Nonetheless for me the Team India were the Champions. No team, including Australia could come close to any contest with the Men in Blue as they defeating every opponent in style.
Today we stand with you Team India …You played fantastically amazing and we are so proud of you.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday admitted that his side was not good enough, especially as a batting unit, in the World Cup final against Australia.
The Aussies bowled out India for a below-par 240 on a tricky pitch and then chased it down in 43 overs for a six-wicket win to bag a record sixth 50-over world title.
Honestly, 20-30 runs (more) would’ve been good. We didn’t bat well enough but finally they are humans and bound to falter at some point of time but unfortunately they chose a wrong day.
The team batting first has posted totals like 410 and 397 and bundled out the opposition like Sri Lanka and South Africa for as low as 55 and 83 runs respectiveley but when it mattered most neither the batting worked nor the bowling.
We have spoken a lot on Rohit’s captaincy and his decisions and he had been amazing but a few decisions in the finals were debatable.

Of Course Mohd Shami got us the breakthrough but Shami could do that even in middle overs.
Clearly, if India missed the services of flambouyant all-rounder anytime in this World Cup, it was on Sunday at Narendra Modi stadium. We needed that extra push in the batting as well as bowling departments not to forget the fielding was also not upto the mark and Hardik Pandya could ahve added some energy in the field.
Nonetheless, the best team on the day won other given another chance this Indian team would beat the current Australian side 8 out of 10 times. It was not just their day. Maybe too much of hype and expections which they could not bear.
Finally, feel for both Rohit and Virat Kohli, they both gave all whatever they had. Rohit always put team first and got out in 40s and 80s. But sometimes in interest of the team, you need to be selfish like on Sunday if Rohit had stayed a little longer who knows the total could have been over 300.
That is where Virat is known to be clever cricketer, team is always his priority but he also wants himself to do well as he knows “If I do well for myself, it will help the team’s cause too.”
And finally, Virat walked with the man of the tournament and Rohit returned empty-handed.
