New Delhi: India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s latest disinformation campaign, dismissing claims that Indian missiles were launched into Afghanistan as “totally frivolous” and “ludicrous.” Addressing the media at a government briefing on Saturday morning, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri exposed what he described as desperate and baseless propaganda attempts by the Pakistani military.
“Pakistan’s allegations that India fired missiles into Afghanistan are completely unfounded,” Mr. Misri said. “The Afghan people don’t need to be reminded which country has repeatedly targeted civilian infrastructure and populations within Afghanistan over the past year and a half.”
He also refuted additional claims by Pakistani officials that India had launched missiles toward Amritsar. These statements, he said, were designed to mislead and distract from Pakistan’s own record of aggression and instability.
Mr. Misri highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to create internal unrest in India by spreading fake news and stirring communal tensions. He pointed to recent attempts by Pakistani officials to portray India as a nation in crisis, suggesting that the Indian government is under pressure from its own citizens.
“The Pakistan army spokesman seems to find satisfaction in the idea of Indian citizens criticizing their government,” he remarked. “Perhaps it is difficult for them to grasp that open criticism is a cornerstone of any functioning democracy. It’s something alien to Pakistan’s own system.”
The Indian government’s strong response comes amid heightened regional tensions and a series of military confrontations along the western front. Officials continue to assert that India remains committed to defending its sovereignty while countering misinformation with facts and transparency.
