PANAJI: The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is an initiative that engages people to remove trash from the world’s coastlines and water bodies. In line with this, the Ecotiva Club and NSS unit of Don Bosco College, Panjim collaborated with the Indian Coast Guard to organise a cleanup at Bambolim Beach on the occasion of International Coastal Cleanup Day 2024.
The cleanup was attended by 60 students of Don Bosco College along with Assistant Professors Glenda Mascarenhas, Rohan Kerkar, Archie Fernandes, Nafisa Da Costa Frias, Shubham Shetgaonkar, Jude Fernandes and Veena Parwarhe. The staff and students of Goa University and Dempo College also joined this activity, taking the total number of participants to over 350.
The Bambolim Beach cleanup was spearheaded by Assistant Commandant Ankit Sharma. Mementos were presented to the institutional in-charges by Lieutenant Commander Ganesh Jaiswal, the Commanding Officer of the Indian Coast Guard ship, Amal. The participants were provided with refreshments by the Indian Coast Guard officials, and the cleanup ended on a note of gratitude.
