New Delhi: Indian women boxers delivered a stellar performance at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025, held at the Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, securing four gold medals and showcasing the country’s growing prowess in the sport.
The gold medal tally for India was opened by Minakshi Hooda, who defeated Fozilova Farzona 5-0 in the women’s 48 kg final. Overjoyed with her victory, Minakshi credited her district coach Vijay Hooda, ITBP, SAI, OGQ, BFI, and the home crowd for her triumph. “Seeing the supporters in large numbers motivated me, and I won the bout 5-0. This is my best year, and I aim to continue working hard to make the country proud,” she said.
Preeti extended India’s dominance by defeating Italy’s Sirine Charaabi 5-0 in the women’s 54 kg final. Arundhati Choudhary continued the golden run with a 5-0 win over Uzbekistan’s Zokirova Aziza in the women’s 70 kg category. Nupur capped the day with another 5-0 victory against Uzbekistan’s Sotimboeva Oltinoy in the 80 kg final, bringing India’s gold medal count to four.
In contrast, Jadumani fell short in the women’s 50 kg final, losing to Uzbekistan’s Asilbek Jalilov and settling for silver.
Earlier in the tournament, 15 Indian boxers reached the finals the highest from any country in this elite eight-only competition highlighting India’s growing depth in women’s boxing. Other Indian pugilists in action later included Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine, Parveen, Pooja, and Sachin, among others.
