PANAJI:The Manohar Parrikar School of Law, Governance and Public Policy, Goa University in association with the Camões – Centro de Língua Portuguesa (CLP), Panaji, will host a special academic discussion and project launch of “Adapting Coastal Regulations to Climate Change: A Legal Comparative Study between Goa, India and Portugal” on April 16, 2025 at 4:30 PM at Camões –CLP, Casa Basílio Dias, Rua de Ormuz Road, Panaji.
This event is being organized under the framework of an MoU between Goa University and the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, and brings together scholars undertaking parallel legal research on climate resilience in coastal zones. The discussion will feature Prof. Fernando Loureiro Bastos and Prof. Carla Amado Gomes the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre of the Faculdade de Direito, Universidade de Lisboa, whose participation is supported through an ongoing project on sea level rise. Representing Goa University is Asst. Prof. Vaibhavi Rane, recipient of a Minor Research Grant from the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF), who is leading a study on climate change adaptation in coastal regulation.
The event will be graced by His Excellency Mr. José de Almeida Cesário, the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities, Mrs, Isabel Raimundo Honourable Consul General of Portugal in Goa, and faculty from Goa University. This gathering offers a timely platform for dialogue between legal scholars and policymakers on the pressing environmental and regulatory challenges facing coastal regions in both India and Portugal. Academicians, students, legal professionals, media persons and members of the public are cordially invited to attend.
