VASCO: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Friday urged the people to practice yoga for overall well-being and to strike a balance in all aspects of life
Amonkar speaking to reporters after participating in the 10th International Yoga Day celebration at Sada said that
On June 21, the world comes together to celebrate International Yoga Day, an occasion that underscores the universal appeal and profound benefits of yoga.
“This day, marked by the United Nations General Assembly ten years ago, owes its recognition to the unwavering efforts of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His vision brought global attention to this ancient practice, highlighting its significance in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being,” said Amonkar.
“Yoga, a gift from India’s rich cultural heritage, transcends borders and languages. It has evolved from being a traditional Indian discipline to a global movement embraced by millions. The practice of yoga fosters a harmonious balance between the body, mind, and spirit, making it an essential tool for holistic health in today’s fast-paced world,” said Amonkar.
Amonkar emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life.
“Yoga is the best way for fitness, physical, and mental health. People must make maximum use of Yoga to strike a balance in all aspects of life. International Yoga Day is proof of growing global acknowledgement of yoga’s benefits, from reducing stress and anxiety to enhancing flexibility and overall fitness” said Amonkar.
“International Yoga Day serves as a reminder of the profound impact yoga can have on our lives. Events and workshops worldwide offer people the chance to experience the transformative power of yoga firsthand. As we celebrate this day, let us commit to incorporating yoga into our daily routines, fostering a healthier, more balanced life.
