Panaji/Ghaziabad: The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Goa State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) to strengthen pharmacy practices and patient safety initiatives in Goa.
The MoU was formalised on February 10, 2026, at the IPC office in Ghaziabad and will remain in force for a period of three years. Dr. V. Kailaiselvan, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director of IPC, signed the agreement on behalf of the Commission, while Dr. Raj Vaidya, President of GSPC, signed on behalf of the state council. Mr. Mahendra Naik, Executive Member of GSPC, along with other IPC officials, was also present on the occasion.
The collaboration is aimed at encouraging the wider adoption of the National Formulary of India (NFI) among pharmacists in Goa. It also seeks to reinforce pharmacovigilance efforts and improve patient safety standards through joint training programmes, capacity-building workshops and awareness campaigns.
A major objective of the agreement is to work towards making the National Formulary of India a mandatory reference in hospital pharmacies across Goa’s public healthcare institutions, thereby promoting rational use of medicines and uniform standards of pharmaceutical care.
Officials stated that the partnership marks a significant step in enhancing professional competence among pharmacists and ensuring safer healthcare delivery in the state.
