VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council City councilllor Shami Salkar gives a counter reply to the Congress leader Nasir Khan on the renovated Old fish market in Vasco.
Shami Salkar councillor of the city ward said that Nasir Khan Congress leader should first get his facts right that the renovated market not just a fish market but various fruit, vegetables and including fish vendors were sitting and doing business inside this structure a few years back.
She further said that there is absolutely no need for the opposition to do political stunts and to claim credit for the work. This market renovation was taken up by Daji Salkar when he was a City councillor.
When asked about the status of this market, Salkar said that right now the electrification of the renovated market is ongoing. Since this is a government project therefore it takes some time. There is no need for someone to misguide people on this issue. Soon the market will be open and the vendors will be shifted inside before monsoon.
Salkar also said that MLA Daji Salkar got elected just three months back and already we have started taking up various pending works be it a Fire station, KTC bus stand etc. And we expect that there will be opposition and people to criticise or take credit for. But we will continue to do our work for the people.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, Congress party Minority president Nasir Khan had protested and questioned about the delay in opening of the renovated old market project from Vasco after the passing of the 15 day deadline. The ongoing electrification work of this project is believed to have caused this delay.
