CANACONA – Following a delegation of vigilant youths of Canacona under the leadership of Janardhan Bhandari met KTCL MD on Friday, a team of KTCL officials inspected the delipidated but still prestigious Canacona Bus Terminus for Canconcars on Saturday.
Bhandari submitted a memorandum to the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited MD Derick Nato at Porvorim demanding immediate commencement of KTC bus stand maintenance at Chaudi, Canacona, giving an ultimatum of 14 days to repair the steel grating covers of the drainage/guter system at the terminus.
As the deteriorating condition of KTC bus stand Canacona is increasingly getting accident prone, a delegation of vigilant youth of Canacona under the leadership of Janardhan Bhandari met the Chairman & MD of KTCL, Porvorim and other government authorities demand to immediately start maintenance work of the bus stand.
The delegation appraised the govt. Authorities about the various problems prevailing at the bus stand demanded to take concrete steps immediately to facelift the condition of the bus stand.
Bhandari also highlighted the uprooted Steel grating covers on drainage/gutters at the terminus and asked for an immediate response to avoid future mishaps.
He gave the ultimatum of 14 days to the authorities to take action, failing which he warned to agitate like they did in May 2020 and asserted that authorities will be responsible for future consequences.
On Saturday, a team of KTCL Officers and officials reached Canacona and inspected the Canacona KTC Bus stand in the presence of Bhandari and others. The inspecting team was informed that during the inauguration of the Bus terminus, the then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar assured Canconcars of its regular and timely maintenance from the maintenance funds, but the bus stand has gone from bad to worse.
The team was particularly shown the broken status off terminus where Steel Grating Covers over buried drainage/gutters, stinking toilets, leaking roofs, and broken floors, amongst other issues.
The Canacona team, after asking to utilise the funds collected at the bus Stand itself through shop rentals, parking fees, bus entry fees and maintaining the bus Stand healthy, the visiting KTCL team assured to carry out maintenance as early as possible.
