CANACONA: Reminding the government of the inauguration of Canacona’s incomplete Ravindra Bhavan, congress leader Janardhan Bhandari made strong demand to complete all the incomplete works to make ‘Lata Mangeshkar Kalangan’ a State of the Art project of Goa.
On Friday , Bhandari submitted a Representation to Art & Culture Director Sagun Velip, demanding to complete all the incomplete works at the newly inaugurated Canacona Ravindra Bhavan at the earliest to make “Lata Mangeshkar Kalangan” indeed a cynosure of all eyes and not to remain a sore eyesight to the public.
Thanking and expressing gratitude towards the Minister for Art & Culture for taking extra initiative and extra efforts to finally open the most needed but largely delayed project in Canacona, the Ravindra Bhavan, Bhandari said inspite of laying foundation stone on 27th July, 2012, the project remained pending until 2017, and the actual momentum of works began only after Govind Gaude took charge as the Art & Culture Minister of Goa in March, 2022, and the iconic project was completed within 2½ years due to his sheer determination & commitment. ‘ We also appreciate the Government of Goa for rightly naming the main auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan after Late Sanjay Bandekar, the visionary leaders of Canacona.’
According to Bhandari, though the Kalangan was inaugurated last month certain works in and outside the complex are still pending.
A Power Transformer is installed at an odd place, i.e., at the entrance of the Ravindra Bhavan not only causing obstruction of the Bhavan, but people get a bad view of the complex itself. The transformer is required to be shifted elsewhere and the open gutter in front of the entrance of Ravindra Bhavan welcomes people with bad odour, damaging the very beauty of the magnificent Ravindra Bhavan.
No beautification of the entire complex is done inspite of placement of the Ravindra Bhavan complex in a vast plot area of 8306 sqm. The floor where Taluka Library is located is not properly protected from rain and has been causing problems for people using the library. Apart from these works many other works such as Sound-testing are not completed till date even after inauguration of the Ravindra Bhavan.
Bhandari stating the vigilant Canconkars, having a Vision & Mission of Progressive Canacona are vigilant enough have made strong demands to instruct the GSIDC to complete the remaining, pending work pertaining to Canacona Ravindra Bhavan at the earliest to make it more convenient for artists and the people. Similarly, GSIDC needs to take work of cleaning & beautification of the complex on an urgent basis as well as undertake work of constructing a garden and developing a pond, immediately. The complex should have statues of musical instruments, replicas of Artists playing local musical instruments to add to the beauty of the Art Temple.
Make immediate arrangement to remove the Electricity Transformer & shift it elsewhere, cover the open gutter at the entrance with concrete slabs and beautify it with pavers, and
Convert it into additional parking space to avoid an ugly look while entering this modern temple of the Art.
