PANAJI: Jaspal Singh, IPS, has been appointed as DGP of Goa with effect from April 1, 2022.
“Consequent upon the retirement of Sh. I.D. Shukla, IPS (AGMUT: 1995) on 31.03.2022 (AN), Sh. Jaspal Singh, IPS (AGMUT:1996) is appointed as DGP, Goa with effect from 01.04.2022,” states that order by Ministry of Home Affairs.
Jaspal Singh, IPS joined Indian Police Service in 1996 and has remained posted in Delhi, Goa, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He handled field assignments for 12 years in different ranks, as Dy. Director of the Intelligence Bureau, he handled a critical assignment for 5 years.
He has been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Police Medal for Hard Duty and Lt. Governor’s Commendation for his exemplary work in Andaman & Nicobar Islands during massive earthquakes and tsunamis.
He is known for maintaining communal harmony in two communally sensitive districts of Delhi and has also facilitated the publication of a book on communal harmony titled ‘Aman ka Gehwara’.
He was nominated as a member of the University Senate while he was a student by the Governor of Punjab for excellence in academics.
