PORVORIM: A 49-year-old labourer died after a fall while working at a construction site in Socorro on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Porvorim Police, a wireless message was received from Asilo Hospital, Mapusa at around 2:50 pm on September 30, 2025, informing that a man identified as Manoj Gond (49), son of Shrikisun Gond, resident of Socorro, originally from Chakabandi Urf Bigahi Dumwalia, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, was brought dead as a case of fall at work.
Police said that enquiries with the deceased’s wife, Savita Gond, revealed that Manoj was employed as a labourer at Darius Paradise Phase II construction site, Socorro. While at work, he suddenly fell on the floor. He was then taken by co-labourers to the temporary accommodation at the site, but he reportedly collapsed again.
Co-workers immediately called the 108 ambulance service, and the injured worker was shifted to Asilo Hospital, Mapusa, where he was declared brought dead.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama over the body in the presence of two panchas. The body has been sent to GMC Bambolim for medico-legal formalities.
A Unnatural Death (UD) case No. 45/2025 has been registered under Section 194 of BNSS, and further investigation is in progress under PSI Arun Shirodkar.
