PONDA: Tensions have arisen between gas agency personnel and customers as a result of the scarcity, which has persisted for more than a week, as irate people struggle to obtain LPG cylinders.
For several days, the local gas provider, Goa Marketing Federation, has been unable to provide LPG cylinders to over 17,000 clients in Ponda taluka, leaving them in a difficult situation.
Especially with the ongoing SSC examinations, housewives are finding it difficult to cook meals for their families.
In order to obtain cooking fuel, desperate customers take to a variety of ways, such as standing in line outside agencies in the early morning or making reservations online through missed calls.
But just about 50 houses, or a small portion of customers, receive refilled cylinders every day, leaving many dissatisfied and compelled to look for other cooking options.
According to sources, gas agency trucks carrying empty cylinders are frequently observed entering the Bharat Gas plant in Verna for refilling.
However, for the previous four days, these trucks have been returning empty. When there isn’t enough work for distribution, truck drivers are often observed sitting about.
Goa Marketing Gas agency sources who were contacted claimed that inconsistent distribution was the result of differences in online booking records.
“The Goa Marketing Federation was given instructions by the Gas Company to keep a register for online cylinder reservations for refilling fuel,” sources said.
