VERNA: A heated altercation over vehicle damage turned violent, when a man was assaulted with a knife near the Cipla Company in Verna Industrial Estate.
According to the Verna Police, the incident occurred around 12:30 PM when the complainant, Sunil Pujari, a resident of Budhwar Peth, Ponda, confronted the accused, Balaji Waghmare, from Nimgao Ketki Majiwada, Maharashtra, regarding damage to his vehicle. The dispute quickly escalated, and Waghmare allegedly attacked Pujari with a knife, causing injuries.
Following the complaint, Verna Police registered an offence under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023, and arrested the accused. He has been remanded to two days of police custody for further investigation.
The case is being investigated by PSI Nikhil Naik Dessai of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
