CALANGUTE: In a crackdown on narcotics, Calangute Police arrested a 35-year-old man after allegedly seizing over 2 kg of suspected ganja during a raid conducted at Porbawado on Monday night.
According to police, the offence was registered at 10:43 pm on April 20 based on a complaint filed on behalf of the State by PSI Paresh Sinari of Calangute Police Station. Acting on specific inputs, a narcotic raid was carried out at around 8:46 pm at Bodkewod ground, Porbawado, Calangute in Bardez.
During the operation, the accused, identified as Manjay Sahni (35), a native of Bihar, was found in possession of a greenish leafy, flowery and fruity substance suspected to be ganja. The contraband weighed approximately 2.049 kg and is estimated to be worth around ₹2 lakh in the illegal market.
The seized substance was attached under a search and seizure panchanama, police said.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Paresh Sinari to ascertain the source of the contraband and possible links to a larger drug network.
