MANDREM: JMFC Pernem today has granted four days police custody to accused Delhi tourist Deepan Rajeev Batra (23) for allegedly deliberately running over Goan woman Marie Feliz Fernandes at Mandrem.
On Friday, a tourist from Delhi purposefully ran over Marie Feliz Fernandes, a Goan woman from Junaswada Mandrem in Pernem Taluka, with his vehicle.
The roadside vendor of tender coconuts was dragged beneath the vehicle for ten meters, resulting in her immediate death. The woman and the Delhi visitor who was staying nearby had a number of arguments over the past several days about him not bringing his dogs to the places.
The cause was that the dogs, owned by Marie Feliz Fernandes, would fight. Maria and the alleged Delhi Tourist engaged in a heated verbal altercation on Friday. Delhi native Deepan Rajeev Batra, age 23.
Deepan Rajeev Batra’s mother grabbed the Goan woman by the hair and threw her to the ground just minutes before she was slain.
Marie had just gotten off the road and was discussing the incident with her neighbor when Deepan struck her with his vehicle and pulled her ten meters beneath it, killing her instantly.
