MANDREM: Two people were arrested by Mandrem Police from Banda, Maharashtra, on suspicion of impersonating “godmen” and defrauding a Parcem-Pernem woman of her Rs 8.5 lakh gold ornaments under the guise of ritual performance.
Three accused individuals, all posing as “godmen,” visited Amita Naik’s home in Chonsaiwadda-Parcem, according to a police report she submitted.
They allegedly used the promise of carrying out unique rites that would bring the complainant serenity and wealth to persuade her to give over her gold jewels.
According to Naik, the accused dishonestly stole jewels valued at Rs 8.5 lakh by evading punishment and failing to return the items.
In accordance with Sections 318(2) and 316(2) r/w 3(5) B.N.S. 2023, Mandrem police filed a complaint.
Two suspects, Dada Ingole (43), and Vijay Shinde (31), both from Solapur, Maharashtra, were located in Banda, Maharashtra, during the course of the investigation.
The defendants admitted to their role in the crime after questioning. The culprits are currently being held by the police, and the stolen stuff, valued at Rs 8.5 lakh, was later found.
To ascertain whether the accused are connected to comparable offenses in other regions of the state, an investigation is underway.
Further investigation is in progress under the guidance of the Mandrem police inspector, under the overall supervision of Pernem SDPO Ashish Shirodkar and SP North Akshat Kaushal.
