PANAJI: Stating that Sancoale jurisdiction needed a full-fledged police station, Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday said he would pursue the pending proposal with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Godinho was talking to reporters after a meeting with stakeholders and industrialists from Sancoale and Verna Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as part of the IDC Connect initiative.
“The population of Sancoale, especially Zuarinagar, has increased by leaps and bounds. When there is a huge population in such a small area, there are bound to be problems. We have seen a rise in the number of antisocial elements and sometimes, even if crimes occur in other areas, the police trace the culprits from there.”
“It is high time that Sancoale gets a full-fledged police station for Sancoale and Zuarinagar areas. The demand has also been made by members of the Sancoale industrial estates and I will take the issue up with the CM Pramod Sawant and see that this is done soon,” said Godinho.
