Margao: Ishita Colaso is poised for a double crown having reached finals in Girls U13 and U15 categories, at the MCC All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament held at the multipurpose stadium, Fatorda. The tournament is organised by Margao Cricket Club in aegis with the Goa Table Tennis Association.
In the U13 Girls semis, Ishita, the top seed, registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Aayushi Amonkar to set up a title clash with Kavyaa Khalap who registered a 3-0 win over Sachi Dessai. Earlier in the quarters, Ishita beat Ira Nadkarni 3-0, Aayushi beat Gianna George 3-1, Kavya beat Samaira Verlekar 3-0 and Sachi edged out Aarna Lotlikar 3-2.
In the U15 Girls section, top seed Neeza Kamat registered a commanding 3-0 win over Manisha Sinha. She will meet Ishita Colaso who upset second seed Pradnya Caro 3-0 in the other semis. In U15 Girls, Shreya Phadte, Ananya Srivastava, Priyasha Nadodkar and Roma Ghantker registered impressive performances to reach the quarters before bowing out.
“The tournament has seen a few other promising performances from young talents such as Ashank Dalvi, Yuvaan Sanke, Chinmay Bakhare, Kavyaa Khalap and Kavya Mahambre besides the ranked players,” said Sudin Verenkar, President of the Goa Table Tennis Association. “There is now a large pool of talents with good potential to climb up in State as well as national rankings. It’s good to see table tennis growing in Goa and making significant progress.”
