Margao: The MCC Masters began the Margao Cricket Club’s Members Cricket League (MCL 11) on a high note, defeating the MCC Royals by 10 runs in the tournament opener.
Batting first, the Masters posted a competitive total of 149 for 9 in 20 overs. In response, the Royals managed 139 for 8, falling short despite a determined chase. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar played a pivotal all-round role for the Masters and was named Man of the Match for his stellar performance.
The MCL 11 season was inaugurated with a vibrant opening ceremony at MCC’s Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao. Chief Guest Shri Nitin Kunkolienker, a distinguished corporate leader and social entrepreneur, graced the occasion. The MCL Trophy was unveiled in the presence of MCC senior members Shri Vinod Dhamaskar and Shri Deepak Raikar, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season of competitive cricket.
In his address, Kunkolienker praised MCC’s efforts, highlighting cricket as a platform not only for sport but also for personal growth and holistic development. MCC representative Raghuvir Kuncolienkar welcomed the participants and attendees.
This year’s league features eight teams: Masters, Royals, Thunder, Tigers, Stallions, Warriors, Avengers, and Knights, all set to battle it out in an action-packed season.
