CALANGUTE: In a significant effort to enhance healthcare accessibility, a mega medical camp was organized by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo at the Candolim Health Centre, attracting a large number of beneficiaries.
The event, on Sunday, provided a comprehensive range of free health services, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, dental and eye examinations, and angynaecological consultations.
Additionally, free medicines were distributed to those in need.
MLA Michael Lobo expressed his satisfaction with the overwhelming response, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that everyone in Calangute and the surrounding areas has access to quality healthcare, regardless of their economic background.” Health Minister Vishwajit Rane commended MLA Lobo for this initiative, highlighting its importance in providing essential health services to the people of Siolim.
The medical camp offered a wide array of services, including general health services such as general OPD, gynaecology OPD, medicine OPD, surgery OPD, ENT OPD, skin OPD, ophthalmology OPD, orthopaedic OPD, and dental OPD. Specialized services included a dental mobile van, breast cancer screening using the breast device, Pap smear testing for cervical cancer, and sputum and outsourced chest X-ray for detecting TB. Wellness services encompassed AYUSH services, counselling on diabetes by diabetes educators, wellness sessions, and ABHA ID generation. Diagnostic services included necessary blood investigations and ECGs.
Local sarpanchas were present to support the event, and consultants from Goa Medical College & Hospital and Goa Dental College & Hospital attended to provide their expertise. Follow-up care for needy patients was arranged at the respective Sub Health Centres, with priority passes issued for consultations at GMC/NGDH Mapusa.
