SANKHALI: Expressing concern over spurred crime rate in Goa due to migrant influx, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has appealed citizens to be alert over the emerging organized crime rackets or scams under pretext of jobs or other prospects.
“Migrant influx has spurred crime in Goa; citizens need to be alert on various scams/rackets involving migrants,” said Sawant
He further said that jewellers are now on scamster’s radar, citizens abouts various frauds, scams taking place in Goa.
“The police are free to arrest anyone implicated in the multi-crore jobs-for-cash scheme, and the investigation is on track,” said Sawant
Sawant told reporters that, contrary to what the opposition had claimed, the Director General of Police (DGP) had not used the term “clean chit” in the case. He claimed that the DGP never mentioned in his press conference that the police had given anyone a clean sheet.
Sawant stated that the probe is proceeding as planned and that no one will be spared when it is finished, citing the State government’s suo-moto cognizance into the case that led to the discovery of a significant employment scam.
When asked if action would be taken against any politicians if they were proved to be involved, Sawant responded, “No one means no one will be spared.”
He claimed that the police are allowed to act freely and that the inquiry is fully transparent. “The police have been granted unrestricted authority to look into the instances, and there is total transparency. I have instructed police to arrest whoever they want in the case, and a thorough investigation will be conducted,” he stated.
