PANAJI: Goa’s Environment and Law Minister Aleixo Sequeira has been admitted to a hospital in Delhi, with family sources confirming that the visit is part of an “annual comprehensive health check-up.”
However, the sudden nature of the hospitalisation and a quick visit by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday have sparked speculation over the minister’s health condition within political circles in the state.
While Sequeira’s family has maintained that there is no cause for concern and that the check-up was pre-planned, the Chief Minister’s unexpected trip to the national capital raised eyebrows, fueling rumours about the minister’s health status.
“He is doing well and is expected to return soon,” a family member said, requesting anonymity.
No official medical bulletin has been issued so far, and details regarding the hospital or expected duration of stay remain undisclosed.
Sequeira, a senior figure in the Goa government, plays a crucial role in shaping the state’s environmental and legal policies. Any prolonged absence could have administrative implications, though officials have remained tight-lipped on the matter.
