CORTALIM: Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas, conducted an inspection of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Cansaulim on Tuesday morning.
Vas was accompanied by Savio Pereira, Sarpanch of Cansaulim Panchayat, Marvila, Deputy Sarpanch, and Jose Maria, ex-Sarpanch.
During his visit, Vas interacted with Dr. Lawande, the Health Officer of PHC Cansaulim, along with the nurses, lab technicians, and administrative staff to understand the functioning of the facility and address their concerns.
It was brought to the MLA’s attention that the PHC is grappling with a shortage of staff and paramedical officials, which has affected its ability to serve the community efficiently. Additionally, key diagnostic equipment such as the X-ray and ultrasound machines were reported to be non-functional, further hampering healthcare services.
Vas later assured the staff that he would take up the matter with the Director of Health Services (DHS) and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to address these pressing issues. He reiterated his commitment to improving the healthcare infrastructure in the region to ensure better services for the residents.
” The inspection was to highlight the need for urgent interventions to enhance staffing and ensure the availability of functional medical equipment, crucial for delivering quality healthcare to the community.” Said Vas
