VELIM: Velim MLA Cruz Silva of the Aam Aadmi Party has reiterated his strong demand for political reservation for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Highlighting the long-standing injustice faced by the ST community, officially recognized in 2003, Silva stressed the urgent need for reserved representation ahead of the 2027 state elections.
Referring to the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024, introduced in the Lok Sabha last August, Silva called for its speedy passage and implementation. “This is a fundamental democratic right guaranteed by our Constitution. Any further delay is unacceptable,” he said.
Vowing to continue raising the issue across all platforms, Silva affirmed his commitment to work closely with stakeholders like the United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTAA) to ensure the ST community’s voice is heard and its representation secured before the next election.
