VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar launches works on two important storm drains in Vasco city in the presence of MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, City ward councillor Shami Salkar and others.
Speaking to media later , Vasco MLA Daji Salkar said that these two storm drains were vital to cater to drainage systems and works on these storm drains would ensure that there will be no flooding in Vasco city. City ward councillor Shami Salkar said that a lot of people had been using plastic and dumping plastic bottles in the gutters that led to the choking of the drainage system.
Salkar appealed to the people to stay away from plastic and said that MMC was planning to have an initiative to offer cloth bags in fish markets and other places to reduce the usage of plastic.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that the pre monsoons works would start in a day or two and will be carried across all 25 wards of the MMC. Rodrigues also said that the MMC had got full support of Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar and Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho.
