VASCO: The directorate of Municipal Administration convened a special meeting to elect the new Chairperson of the Mormugao municipal council on June 27. Recently Former Chairperson Damodar Kaskar resigned as a Chairperson.
As per the notice issued by the Director of the Department of Municipal Administration Gurudas Pilarnkar, according to the Goa Municipalities Act 1968(as amended in 1994), a special meeting was convened on June 27 to elect the new chairperson of MMC. The last date to submit the nomination form is June 26 till 12 pm. Mormugao Deputy Collector Ravishekhar Nipanikar has been appointed as the presiding officer of this special meeting.
It may be recalled that after finishing one year as a Chairperson of MMC, recently Damodar Kaskar resigned from the post of Chairperson. Since then, the position has been vacant. It is highly expected that Leo Rodrigues could become the next Chairperson of MMC. He hs filed his nominations today.
