PANAJI: Errant police officers have come under fire from Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik for damaging the reputation of the disciplined force.
Naik said that more work needs to be done to reform the Goa Police, pointing to certain officers’ involvement in wrongdoing and criminal activity.
“Such acts are damaging the reputation of the police force, the government and the State,” he stated.
Although he acknowledged that the state of law and order in Goa has improved, he advocated on enhancements like improved training and skill development.
In response to recent claims by infamous criminal and land grab suspect Suleman Siddique Khan that he was coerced by police into taking a video at gunpoint, Naik promised that an investigation is now in progress.
