PORVORIM: State Police Control Room received 1430 calls in regards to Noise Pollution/Loud Music from 2021 to June 30, 2022.
“In the year 2021, a total of 955 calls and in the year 2022 (up to 30-06-2022) total of 475 calls were received at State Police Control Room helpline regarding Noise Pollution/Loud Music, and the same was conveyed to Anjuna Police Station.
All calls were promptly attended, and the staff visited the spot. But most of the time, the calls were found to be a hoax, and no violation was found,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that 23 complaints were directly received at Anjuna Police Station in 2021, and 21 were received in 2022 up to (30.06.2022). On receipt of said complaints, the enquiry officer conducted the enquiry, but no violation was found, so the enquiry was closed.
In the year 2021, two cases were registered vide Cr. No. 127/2021 u/s 5 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 and Sec 15 of Environment (Protection)Act 1986 and Cr. No. 152/21 u/s 5 of Noise Pollution Regulation and Control Rules 2000 and Sec 15 of Environment (Protection) Act 1986.
“During the current year, one case has been registered vide Cr. No 79/2022 u/s 15 of the Environment (Protection)Act 1986 and Contravention of the Noise Pollution (Regulations and Control) Rules 2000. All three cases have been charge-sheeted and presently pending trial,” he said.
