New Delhi: Air Chief Marshal AP Singh used the convocation ceremony at Karnavati University in Gandhinagar to deliver a pointed message to graduating students about unity, character, and national responsibility. Addressing the young audience, he said India’s future strength will depend on how firmly the next generation rejects social barriers and works together with purpose.
He reminded students that the country once played a leading role on the global stage, yet slipped behind in recent centuries. According to him, regaining that stature will require citizens who are willing to think beyond personal identities and divisions. He stressed that every Indian shares the same roots, and that progress becomes impossible when society allows caste or religious differences to dictate relationships or opportunities. He urged the youth to respect one another and to guard against attitudes that widen social gaps or weaken collective resolve.
Singh encouraged the graduates to prioritize becoming strong individuals before chasing titles or achievements. Traits such as compassion, integrity, honesty, and selflessness, he said, form the foundation of a meaningful life and a resilient nation. He added that true leadership begins with character, and without it, talent and ambition remain incomplete.
Teamwork formed another central theme of his address. Comparing society to a structure built brick by brick, he reminded the students that each person contributes to a larger system and carries a duty to strengthen it. National progress, he noted, is a shared responsibility that demands cooperation, discipline, and a willingness to support one another.
He also called on the young graduates to stay connected to their roots and to never lose sight of the values imparted by parents and teachers. Success, he said, rests on consistent effort rather than shortcuts, and humility is essential no matter how far one travels in life.
The ceremony concluded with Karnavati University presenting Singh with an honorary Doctor of Literature degree in recognition of his service and his commitment to inspiring the country’s youth.
