PANAJI: The Department of Information and Publicity (DIP) will celebrate the annual National Press Day on November 16, 2024 at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji from 9.30 am onwards. The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant will be the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Held in association with the Goa Editors Guild, Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), Photo Journalist Association of Goa (PJAG), Sports Journalist Association of Goa (SJAG), Electronic Media Journalist Association of Goa (EMJAG) and South Goa Journalist Association (SGJA), the celebrations will have an interactive session on ‘Maintaining of Ethics and Accountability in Reporting’, where Shri Glenn Costa will moderate a session comprising noted media persons- Shri Alister Miranda, Shri Prasad Mhambrey, Shri Newton Sequeira and Dr Olav Albuquerque.
This year the Lifetime Achievement Award will be conferred on veteran journalist Shri R.V Prabhugaonker. On the occasion, senior journalists Shri Alexandre Moniz Barbosa, Shri Ramnath Pai Raikar, Shri Sushant Kunkolienkar, Shri Pradeep Patil and Shri Yashwant Patil will also be felicitated for their contribution in journalism.
On the occasion, Journalist Awards and prizes of the Photo contest organized by the Department of Information and Publicity will be presented.
National Press Day is celebrated on November 16 each year and is commemoration of the day on which the Press Council of India was established to safeguard the independence of the press in India and maintains professional ethics in journalism. The theme for this year’s National Press Day is ‘Changing Nature of Press’.
